The Niue Health Department would like to inform the public that the death that occurred at Niue Foou Hospital on Monday morning the 2nd July 2012 was due to dengue haemorrhagic fever.

The department regrets the loss of life despite medical treatment given to help the deceased.

Our condolences are extended to the family and friends of the deceased. The Department also extends the offer for grief counselling to anyone who needs it at this time, please contact phone number 4100.

A reminder to all residents on the island, to continue and undertake preventive measures in conjunction with the health department public health activities, in order to stop the spread of dengue.
